Yeezy's Indelible Influence on Sneaker Culture

(Yeezy 2's)

It is no hidden secret that Kanye West’s iconic sneaker line, the ‘Yeezy’ changed the game. No other shoe since the release of the Air Max 1 or Jordan brand touched the masses like they did. So much so that most Nike sneakers have been given the ‘Yeezy 2 colorway treatment’, with the most popular being the ‘Solar Red’ colorway.
I have seen quite a few Nike sneakers in this colorway, such as the Air Max 1 FB ‘Yeezy’, the Roshe Run FBJordan SC3Jordan Spiz’ike iD, and the Nike LeBron X iD. To some extent you could say the colorway is being overused, but given the limited run of the Yeezy 2 all over the world, most adoring fans will try to get ANY sneaker in Yeezy 2 colorway guise.
Nike recently introduced two new sneakers to the Solar Red phenomenon; namely the Foamposite Pro’s and Air Force 1 Low CMFT. The Pro’s feature a largely black build with red lining, and a glow-in-the-dark sole. The Air Force 1’s get a similar treatment except for an ordinary green sole.
Another surprising ‘participant’ is the New Balance 580 “NBeezy” customized by Alexander-John.  Paying attention to detail, the sneaker incorporates a snake scale pattern on the heel, glow-in-the-dark green midsole, and gold lace tips.
Since his much publicized move to adidas, we have yet to see a sample of his new work. Recently a picture surfaced online that was touted as the first pair in the collaborative venture, but the rumour was quickly quelled. It seems we will have to wait until 2015, but in the meantime expect more amazing and rare custom Yeezy 2-inspired sneakers!
