2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 Coupe AMG
Now this will be well received by hardcore Mercedes-Benz fans. The Stuttgart, German-based automobile manufacturer has decided to reintroduce the S-Class coupe back in the S-Class model lineup. It has been almost 22 years since the last genuine S-Class coupe rolled off the assembly line. 'Genuine' because from 1999, the coupe was called 'CL-class'.
The first one, the 300 S launched in 1952, which paved the way for the big body Mercedes-Benz coupes. It was followed by the 1956 220 S and 220 SE. 1961 saw the launch of the 220 SEb and 300 SEC, then 20 years later saw the launch of the most successful S-Class coupe of the 20th century, the 380 SEC and 500 SEC. One distinctive feature is the fact that none of them were offered in AMG trim. It seemed 'inhumane' souping up a touring coupe.
Personally, the 600 SEC is my favorite out of the whole lineage. the big exterior and roomy interior, coupled with luxurious fabrics, ample legroom and nostalgic analogue display and knobs makes it an instant classic. I hope to purchase one in the nex three years, along with a 1980s 560 SEC.
