We all know Thuli Madonsela as the no-nonsense Public Protector. She has been in the news more often in the past years for bringing to light the procurement of the SAPS headquarters, the ICE headquarters and most recently the Nkandla report.
But I don't think people know that she was one of the 11 legal experts who drafted our current Constitution. She is a mother of two, a boy and a girl. In 2012, O's editor Sam Page put together a collection of letters, written by South Africans, to their teenage selves. This letter to her 16-year old self gives us a touching insight into Thuli Madonsela's life before she was the Public Protector that we know and love.
